A Toast to the Do-Over
Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1:54PM The rain, the plashy, misty, drumming, greening rain. It's lovely. The rushing rhythm begs me to put aside my writing assignment and to get nostalgic. With a gray light filtering in through the windows and the lamp light beside me seeming more orange than usual, it's all I can do not to think about springs past. I've called Napa Valley home for two years now. That's two lovely spring seasons and a very full photo library.
When the sun comes back and I can get outside, here are a few things I can't wait to do again this year:
Hike the hills around Lake Hennessey
With plenty of breaks
Order a scoop of coconut in a waffle cone at Three Twins Ice Cream, and enjoy the company of my wonderfully curious young friends
Host a Book Club party, being sure to include spring artichokes &
LOTS of fresh garlic
Snag a seat at the bar and the perfect pie at Flour + Water
Make time for an outdoor shower in a wooded retreat on a late, sunny morning
Spend a Saturday sailing to Angel Island on the charming "Nadine," friends and picnic gear on board
If repetition is a sign of a creative lack, then I look forward to a very unimaginative spring. What repeat adventures are you looking forward to this April?
Cheers to Do-Overs!

Oh Brooke, how I'd love to join you in your spring revelry. All except the whole outdoor shower thing, I'll let you enjoy that experience solo or with a more appropriate companion.
This is called spring procrastination. I have ten more wine club stories I need to finish and instead I'm tripping down memory lane!
PS - I appreciate the shower courtesy.
Crosswords and coffee in the morning followed by hat shopping at Goorin Bros, a visit to the Aquarium of the Bay, dinner, and some stand up at Cobb's.

Uh, Pat, I think you forgot bad haggling in Chinatown. :)
Jazz Fest, lotsa crawfish, and snoballs!

Ah, Jen, snoballs and Jazz Fest. Perhaps a little Boudin, too? I wish I were in New Orleans right now.
DEFinately boudin. And probably a host of other things I haven't even imagined yet.
Things you haven't imagined yet..yet, being the key word. I can't wait to read about those things once you do imagine them.
